Manifesto of the Resonances of Stones Project

For a heritage that lives, resonates, and is shaped together.

Premise: Living Space, Synergy and Participation

At the heart of our vision lies a profound belief: space is not a neutral container, but a living organism, filled with memory and capable of engaging in a deep dialogue with art and music, becoming a co-creator of the aesthetic experience. As expressed in the Resonances of Stones – IMPACT project, architectural space, with its materiality and acoustics, reflects and amplifies the resonances of art, shaping both emotional and perceptual responses.

Visual and musical works change meaning when placed in different contexts: every location impresses its own unique tone, becoming an interpreter and emotional amplifier that generates unrepeatable experiences. Today, technology allows us to explore and virtually reconstruct these spaces, restoring life and voice to forgotten or destroyed places, and making the deep relationship between space, memory, and creativity tangible.

Equally important is the role of the audience, no longer seen as passive spectators but as active and sensitive participants in the performative process. The interaction with space and the artwork unfolds in an immersive and shared dimension, where collective participation generates meaning and intensifies emotional resonance. Each event becomes a moment of exchange, co-creation, and shared memory.

A New Approach: Spaces, Artworks and Experiences in Resonance

We propose an innovative model of artistic and cultural engagement, one that merges the evocative power of art with the sensory intelligence of space and the immersive strength of technology. At the foundation of each event is a carefully selected artwork, individually placed in a unique environment chosen for its architectural and acoustic qualities. These works are not merely displayed, but activated through interdisciplinary performances that combine sound, light, scents, movement, and immersive technologies.

These experiences are designed to enhance the physical and emotional depth of perception, creating complex sensory environments where each encounter becomes a living, embodied, and collective resonance.

Alongside the physical event, we develop digital pathways within the same spaces—interactive tours, virtual reconstructions, augmented narratives—that expand and prolong the experience, making it accessible, layered, and participatory. Technology thus becomes a poetic extension of space and artwork, a bridge connecting memory, presence, and imagination.

Objectives

  • Revitalize places through the synergy of space, art and technology
Activate the dynamic relationship between architecture, acoustics, and the performing arts by using digital tools to reawaken historical and forgotten places, transforming them into resonant, living scenarios.
  • Transform the audience into sensory and narrative protagonists
Promote immersive and participatory practices in which the audience becomes a co-creator of the experience, engaging with the space interactively and contributing to the construction of meaning.
  • Explore the perceptual variability of artworks in relation to space
Investigate how artistic works change in impact and meaning depending on their spatial and experiential context, emphasizing the role of architecture and environment as active agents of interpretation.
  • Foster intercultural dialogue through performance
Highlight connections between diverse cultures, both European and non-European, promoting artistic exchanges that reflect the richness and plurality of cultural identities.
  • Innovate the preservation and accessibility of heritage
Develop immersive methodologies based on technologies such as 3D scanning and acoustic reconstruction to make the experience of artistic and musical heritage more inclusive and emotionally engaging.
  • Cultivate research, education, and collective growth
Create opportunities for study, experimentation, and dialogue among artists, students, researchers, and communities, promoting a transdisciplinary approach at the intersection of art, technology, and memory.

Make art and culture accessible and shared experiences

Break down physical and symbolic barriers, offering inclusive pathways that invite participation from diverse audiences—both on-site and in virtual environments.
