Painter • Researcher in Art, Restoration, and Heritage Preservation at the Mantinea Institute

Agnieszka Obidzińska is a visual artist based in Warsaw, Poland, whose practice encompasses painting, wall painting, and heritage-connected artistic interventions. Working primarily with traditional and time-honoured techniques such as egg tempera on canvas, fresco, sgraffito, mosaic, and silicate mineral and acrylic mediums, she creates works that dialogue with both contemporary artistic discourse and the material legacies of the past. Her broad practice also includes three-dimensional works such as sculptures, mosaics, installations, and textile objects. Her interests in space—literal, metaphorical, and cultural—inform both her studio work and her contributions to site-specific environments.

A graduate with a Master’s degree in painting and wall painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (2024), Agnieszka has participated in numerous exhibitions across Poland, presenting her work in several respected galleries. Her exhibitions reflect a sustained engagement with form, perception, and materiality, situating her within a dynamic contemporary art context.

In addition to her studio practice, Agnieszka is actively involved in the restoration and re-valorisation of polychromes and historic wall surfaces, bringing artistic sensitivity and technical understanding to heritage projects. Her wall painting expertise—rooted in both historical and contemporary techniques—positions her to approach polychrome restoration not only as conservation work but as creative revitalisation that re-engages communities with their visual heritage.

Prior to focusing exclusively on visual art, she pursued academic and professional pathways that included Classical Studies and Romance Philology at the University of Warsaw, and Costume Design at MSKPU, enriching her artistic perspective with a deep humanistic and social foundation. Her work at the University of Warsaw Library‘s document archives further honed her artefact research skills, reinforcing her commitment to the valuation of heritage—both tangible and intangible —and the thoughtful integration of historical context into her artistic and restorative practice.

Agnieszka’s interdisciplinary background and heritage-oriented artistic work underline her unique position at the intersection of contemporary creativity and cultural preservation.
