Pianist • Musicologist • Educator •  Consultant to the Mantinea Institute • Florida, USA

Barbara Salani is an accomplished pianist, musicologist, and educator with international experience in performance, pedagogy, and cultural exchange. She holds piano diplomas from conservatories in Venezuela and Italy, a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, and both a Master of Music and a Ph.D. in Comparative Studies (Musicology and Italian Studies) from Florida Atlantic University, where she also teaches Italian language and culture.
As President of the Palm Beach County Music Teachers Association, Dr. Salani is committed to creating meaningful opportunities for young musicians to grow artistically and culturally. Her students have distinguished themselves by winning competitions and performing at renowned venues including Carnegie Hall and at international events throughout Italy and the United States.
Alongside her educational work, Dr. Salani actively pursues musicological research. Most recently, she led philological research focused on the revival of Pietro Carlo Guglielmi’s long-forgotten 1812 opera Amalia e Carlo, for which she has prepared a critical edition and a modern orchestration, contributing to the rediscovery and renewed appreciation of this important work.
With a passion for connecting American students to Italy’s rich musical heritage, Dr. Salani is collaborating with the Mantinea Institute and the Conservatorio Puccini in La Spezia to present Summer Masterclasses and Performance Programs. These immersive opportunities feature instruction from renowned American and Italian faculty, including chamber music coaching, and conclude with student solo and ensemble performances in historic settings.
